Brittany Knutson specializes in intellectual properly litigation, including trademark, unfair competition, false advertising, and internet disputes for clients in media, e-commerce, hospitality, retail and consumer goods, and other industries. She has experience representing clients in federal district courts across the nation and before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. Ms. Knutson has successfully recovered numerous domain names through UDRP proceedings and has also developed and implemented trademark enforcement programs for multiple well-known brands.
Prior to law school, Ms. Knutson began her career in the private sector as an administrator and the Director of Admissions at Globe University in Madison, Wisconsin.
Ms. Knutson was recognized as a Washington D.C. “Rising Star” in 2020, 2021 and 2022 for Intellectual Property Litigation by Super Lawyers magazine.
Experience
Represented well-known media company in breach of contract dispute worth over a billion dollars in damages, responsible for objecting and responding to discovery requests and negotiating disputes, conducting extensive document review, preparing lead counsel for numerous fact and expert depositions, drafting significant portions of summary adjudication briefing and various motions in limine.
Represented national home services company in contentious trademark and trade name infringement matter, responsible for drafting complaint and all initial filing documents, drafting discovery requests and managing e-discovery process and review, drafting significant portions of summary judgment briefing, including statements of undisputed material fact and supporting declarations and motions to seal, and (currently) preparing for trial.
Represented innovative sustainable foods company in breach of settlement agreement and trademark infringement matter, solely responsible for all aspects of securing admissible, relevant evidence of third-party use.
Representation pro bono of transgender client in discrimination case against one of the largest hospital systems in the DMV.
