Richard Galati focuses his practice on the representation of financial institutions, including investors and servicers of commercial mortgage-backed securities. He represents clients in state and federal commercial litigation and disputes relating to loan origination and servicing issues and distressed real estate loans, including the pursuit of foreclosure, deed-in-lieu of foreclosure, and receivership remedies and workouts. He also has experience representing mortgagees, loan servicers, and creditors in bankruptcy matters, adversary proceedings and matters involving municipal tax and environmental liens.
Prior to joining the firm, Richard worked as an associate in the New York City office of two national law firms where he focused his practice on complex commercial litigation, with an emphasis on consumer finance and creditors’ rights. Previously, he was an associate in the New York City office of an international law firm where his practice was focused on complex commercial and securities litigation.
While attending law school, Richard served as a judicial extern for U.S. Magistrate Judge Jeffrey N. Cole in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and was also certified as a mediator by the Center for Conflict Resolution.
