Insights: News Talitha Vickers Joins Kilpatrick Townsend
WXII-TV’s Longtime News Anchor and Triad Community Leader Brings
Unique Business Development and Marketing Expertise to Iconic Law Firm
WINSTON-SALEM (May 31) – Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton announced today that longtime WXII-TV news anchor Talitha Vickers has joined the firm as a Marketing and Business Development Manager. Mrs. Vickers will be working directly with Kilpatrick Townsend’s innovative attorneys and clients as she offers her unique and strategic insight after covering many of the top stories from the past two decades, including some of the nation’s most prominent corporate entities. She will also bring significant community leadership to the position as Mrs. Vickers helps Kilpatrick Townsend continue its 103-year history of outstanding service to the Triad.
“I am honored to become a part of an international law firm that has played such an instrumental role in advising some of the world’s most recognizable brands and organizations,” said Mrs. Vickers. “The firm truly partners with its clients while helping them navigate an ever-evolving business and legal landscape. Also, Kilpatrick Townsend’s core values of advancing philanthropy, diversity and inclusion, and community leadership continues to drive change for the better through meaningful corporate citizenship. I look forward to working with my new colleagues in the Triad and across the firm’s 19 other offices around the globe.”
Through her ability to resonate with people beyond the television screen and across diverse industries, Mrs. Vickers has spent her entire career as a television journalist up and down the East coast. She quickly worked her way up from a news intern to a respected anchor. The critical positions in between those roles have laid the foundation for her passion as a journalist, author of a children’s book, public speaker, and business development strategist for companies looking to expand their verbal identity and industry footprint.
“We welcome Talitha to the firm,” said Steve Berlin, Kilpatrick Townsend’s Winston-Salem Managing Partner. “Her distinct skillset in the areas of journalism, business development, and marketing are outstanding attributes to offer our attorneys and clients in today’s marketplace. Also, Talitha’s leadership in the community fits perfectly within the firm’s mission of giving back.”
Mrs. Vickers was born in Brooklyn, New York and raised on Long Island by her mother and father who are West Indian immigrants. She graduated with honors from Monmouth University. Mrs. Vickers has worked in New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Charlotte, Orlando and Winston Salem for NBC, CBS, and FOX affiliates. At WXII 12 News, she was a weekend anchor and reporter and within a year was promoted to main anchor of the 4:00 p.m. newscast, 5:00 p.m. newscast, 6 p.m. newscast, and 11 p.m. newscasts.
Mrs. Vickers has received an Associated Press Award for Outstanding Spot News Coverage and numerous awards and recognition for community service including the 2020 Outstanding Women Leaders Award presented by the late Winston Salem Mayor Pro-tem Vivian Burke and the city of Winston Salem. She was also recognized with the 2019 Winston Under 40 Leadership Award and The Rebecca Stafford Award for Excellence in Leadership from Monmouth University.
Aside from being the Mistress of Ceremonies at numerous galas, premieres, charity events, and festivals, what Mrs. Vickers enjoys most is giving back to the community by educating and mentoring students. As an Adjunct Professor focused on Media Presentation, she took pride in creating a bootcamp for aspiring journalists and created a mentorship program for students interested in working on-camera and behind the scenes. Mrs. Vickers has worked with the Boys and Girls Club, Stand Up for Autism events, hosting the Academic, Cultural, Technological and Scientific Olympics (ACT-SO), and Hope Now's Annual Back to School Event and Health Fair.
