Insights: News Two Kilpatrick Townsend Attorneys Named to "2022 Lawyers of Color Hot List"
ATLANTA (December 2) -- Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton announced today that Brittany Elias Kandela and Prathyusha Chenji were selected as “2022 Lawyers of Color Hot List” honorees. Lawyers of Color is a nonprofit promoting diversity in the legal profession and advancing democracy and equality in marginalized communities. The Hot List recognizes early-to-mid-career attorneys excelling in the legal profession.
Brittany Elias Kandela is a senior associate in the firm’s Los Angeles office. She focuses her practice on trademark portfolio and conflict management and advises on issues relating to complex domestic and international trademark clearance and prosecution, foreign and domestic disputes, brand protection and foreign litigation matters. She also counsels clients on a wide range of domestic and international enforcement issues. Prior to becoming an attorney, Ms. Kandela was founder and president of Museum of the Souls (Museo de las Almas) in Los Angeles where she successfully cultivated relationships with sponsors, patrons, publicists, media representatives, and artists to provide a platform for the exhibition and auction of work by up-and-coming Hispanic and Latino artists.
Prathyusha Chenji is an associate in the firm’s Atlanta office. She has a full-range trademark and brand management practice that includes global portfolio management, domestic and foreign trademark clearance, litigation, and global trademark enforcement. Ms. Chenji also assists with handling the Intellectual Property due diligence portion of corporate acquisitions. This year, Ms. Chenji was nominated to serve on the AAPI Diversity Council for the Atlanta Hawks. She is also VP of Communications for the National Association of Asian American Professionals (NAAAP Atlanta) and leads the Nominations Committee for the Georgia Asian Pacific American Bar Association (GAPABA). In 2023, Ms. Chenji will serve on the Racial Justice Task Force for the South Asian Bar Association of North America (SABA-NA).
“Lawyers of Color Hot List” honorees are chosen by a selection committee composed of editorial staff, fellows and advisors, who spend months reviewing nominations and researching legal publications to identify promising candidates. Attorneys can also be nominated by peers and colleagues.
Lawyers of Color was initially founded as On Being A Black Lawyer but now also produces publications for lawyers of South Asian American, Pacific Asian American, Hispanic, and Native American heritage. With a core readership of 35,000, nearly 200,000 unique blog visitors, and nearly 4,000 followers and fans, it has the largest social media presence of any minority legal organization.
