Kilpatrick Townsend attorneys Dustin Greene, Beth Winters, and Whitney Pakalka will take an in-depth look at the North Carolina Business Court and will provide information that practitioners (both in-house and outside counsel) can utilize when deciding whether to select the Business Court as the forum of choice for their cases. The presentation will focus on the opinions of the Business Court during 2022-23.
The CLE will include a brief overview of the Business Court and its judges and jurisdictional issues. The presenters will then review the significant cases decided by the Business Court in the past year to provide attendees with a better understanding of how the Business Court functions and its jurisprudence. Analysis will include: the number of cases accepted for Business Court jurisdiction by category; geographic distribution of Business Court cases; a review of significant substantive opinions from the Business Court; and how appeals from Business Court decisions have fared.
