Kilpatrick Townsend 2019 Advanced Trademark Law Seminar

Brand owners must keep up with developments affecting trademark laws and practices around the world to ensure adequate brand protection in jurisdictions of interest. From recent USPTO rule changes and use-related initiatives, to implementation of the long-awaited new trademark laws in Canada, to the impact of a potential "no deal" Brexit in October, the past 18 months (and the rest of 2019) bring important changes that will impact domestic and global clearance, filing, enforcement, and maintenance strategies. This session will review recent trademark developments in a number of jurisdictions, including the EU, U.K., Canada, Mexico, Argentina, Myanmar, and the United States. Panelists will address the key elements and practical implications of these developments and will share their experience and insights on both jurisdiction-specific and global issues from an in-house perspective. Mike Rafter was speaker and moderator for this panel at Kilpatrick Townsend and Stockton's 2019 Advanced Trademark Law Seminar in San Francisco on September 26 and in New York on October 24.
