Overview

Lin Yan is a registered patent agent who focuses her practice on due diligence, patent prosecution, and counseling in technologies relating to chemistry and life sciences. She has particular expertise in the fields of antibodies, diagnostics, large molecule therapeutics, and gene editing technologies.

Prior to joining the firm, Lin was a patent agent in the South San Francisco, California headquarters of a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company where she managed its patent portfolio and invention disclosures, performed third-party due diligence, patentability, and freedom-to-operate analyses, and drafted and prosecuted patent applications on antibody-related cancer therapeutic drug platforms.

Before her Intellectual Property career, Lin held research positions in both industry and academia settings. She worked at a multinational biopharmaceutical company and a startup biotechnology company in the San Francisco Bay Area where she utilized CRISPR technology to modify genomes of cells and animals. Before that, she was a research fellow focusing on vaccine research at the University of Washington and at the University of Illinois in Chicago. Lin co-authored six peer-reviewed research articles in scientific journals.
