Prior to joining Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton, Ryan worked as an associate at a law firm based in San Francisco, California in its Intellectual Property and Brand Integrity & Innovation groups. Ryan managed domestic and international trademark portfolios, advised on global trademark filing and enforcement strategies for consumer goods and technology companies, and provided clearance search opinions for several luxury brands. Ryan also has significant experience in anti-counterfeiting strategies, including designing and overseeing online enforcement programs, as well as coordinating and supporting joint enforcement actions with law enforcement, including Homeland Security and Customs & Border Protection. Previously, Ryan was in the famed agent training program in the Motion Picture Literature Department at William Morris Endeavor in Beverly Hills, California and later worked in feature film development/production at Kurtzman/Orci Productions in Universal City, California and Twentieth Century Fox in Los Angeles, California.

While attending law school, Ryan served as Senior Notes Editor for the Hastings Law Journal. While attending the University of Michigan, Ryan studied English Literature abroad at the University of Oxford in Oxford, England.

Ryan was recognized as a Northern California "Rising Star" in 2021 and 2022 for Intellectual Property by Super Lawyers magazine.
