Insights: News Releases Kilpatrick Townsend Plays Key Role at National Bar Association’s 2015 Corporate Leadership Forum

SAN DIEGO (July 27) -- The National Bar Association's (NBA) Corporate Leadership Forum (CLF) was held on July 18th in Los Angeles, California. The forum is the official kick-off of the NBA’s 90th Annual Convention. Partner Kandace Patton Watson represented Kilpatrick Townsend and served as a featured moderator at the forum.

Ms. Watson moderated, "Master Class: A Conversation with a Fortune 500 CEO," that featured Kaiser Permanente CEO, Bernard Tyson and General Counsel Mark Zemelman. Ms. Watson asked Mr. Tyson, as the CEO of a $60-billion healthcare company, with revenues greater than many of the Fortune 100, to share his insights on key roles and functions of in-house attorneys and outside counsel. Mr. Tyson discussed the evolving role of the corporate legal department in the 21st century, ways attorneys can better serve the C-suite and the importance of diversity and inclusion – especially in improving patient outcomes. Additionally, General Counsel Zemelman and Association of Corporate Counsel, Chair, John Page, shared their tactics on how to garner varying perspectives on legal issues, to broaden the viewpoints that C-Level Executives receive to better run the organization.

CLF is an engaging one day forum of interactive roundtable and focused panel presentations discussing issues facing the office of the General Counsel and issues confronting outside counsel.
