Overview

Alee Soleimanpour focuses his practice on tax-related matters and disputes. He has experience assisting clients in navigating complicated business and tax issues on the federal, state, and local levels. A tactical thinker, Alee finds that the most complicated legal problems are often best resolved with a combination of understanding his client’s unique needs and his strategic tax planning experience. As each client’s tax controversy needs are distinct and pressing, Alee is practiced at advising clients on many types of disputes. In federal matters, he represents clients before the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), assisting with IRS examinations, appeals, ruling requests, and other administrative proceedings. Before the U.S. Tax Court, Alee represents clients in tax and related financial cases. In state matters, he has assisted clients with a wide variety of tax matters before administrative agencies.

Alee also has experience on federal tax matters involving joint ventures and mergers and acquisitions, including stock and asset acquisitions, dispositions, spin-offs, and tax-free reorganizations.

Prior to joining the firm, Alee was a tax associate in the Portland, Oregon office of a west coast law firm where he concentrated his practice on business and corporate tax planning and controversy. Previously, he served as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Carolyn P. Chiechi and the Honorable Joseph W. Nega in the U.S. Tax Court in Washington, D.C.

While attending Gonzaga University School of Law, Alee was a legal intern in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Washington in Spokane, Washington. He served Associate Editor of the Gonzaga Journal of International Law and the Gonzaga Law Review.

Alee is a founding Board Member and President of the Oregon Arab Iranian Bar Association (OAIBA), one of Oregon’s newest affinity bar organizations.
