David Schaffer focuses his practice on mergers, acquisitions, securities offerings, and secured financing. Over the past 30 years, he has handled a wide variety of transactions for corporate entities, private equity firms, institutional investors, and commercial banks. David has managed all aspects of these transactions including anti-trust, cross-border, tax, real estate, and regulatory issues. He has represented clients in the banking and finance, information technology, food manufacturing and distribution, steel, real estate, insurance, and healthcare industries.
Prior to joining the firm, David was a senior partner in the Chicago, Illinois office of a well-established litigation law firm where he was an integral part of its corporate practice. His practice consisted of mergers, acquisitions (including leveraged recapitalizations) and dispositions, privately placed securities offerings, secured financing, and general corporate and commercial counseling and planning. Previously, David was a partner and Co-Chair of the corporate practice group at a national law firm in its Chicago, Illinois office where he concentrated his practice on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, privately placed securities offerings, secured lending matters, employment law, general corporate counseling, and compliance matters.
David has been recognized as a “Leading Lawyer” and one of the top attorneys in Illinois for Commercial Bankruptcy and Workout, Mergers and Acquisitions, and Securities and Venture Finance Law by Leading Lawyers magazine.
