Meghan Farmer Returns to Firm after Serving in Key In-House Leadership Roles

ATLANTA (February 1)Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton announced today that Meghan Farmer has re-joined Kilpatrick Townsend as a partner on the firm’s nationally recognized Technology, Privacy, & Cybersecurity Team (TPC) in the Atlanta office. Ms. Farmer is returning to the firm after working five years with Intuit and Mailchimp. At Intuit, she served as Deputy General Counsel, Product Privacy. At Mailchimp, before it was acquired by Intuit in November 2021, she was Vice President of Legal, Privacy and Data Protection.

Ms. Farmer brings a unique skill set to Kilpatrick Townsend – nearly 15 years of handling sophisticated global and domestic privacy-related matters, including more than seven years of in-house experience advising senior executives and boards of directors on their most important legal issues.  She joined Mailchimp during a transformational time as the industry leader was becoming a data-driven, full-service marketing automation platform. Ms. Farmer applied her significant expertise advising on domestic and global privacy compliance to help the company’s leadership, product and data teams think strategically about the complex data privacy issues that may impact future business objectives. 

As the privacy program leader, Ms. Farmer’s scope of responsibility was broad. She guided Mailchimp’s global privacy compliance efforts, including the implementation of compliance programs for the GDPR and California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). Ms. Farmer oversaw product privacy compliance for Mailchimp’s product suite, becoming a trusted partner to internal business teams. She also helped prepare Mailchimp for the acquisition by Intuit.

Following the acquisition, Ms. Farmer became head of the Global Product Privacy team at Intuit. She was responsible for privacy across Intuit’s product lines including Mailchimp, QuickBooks, and TurboTax.

When Ms. Farmer was previously practicing at Kilpatrick Townsend, she played an integral role in the marketing and expansion of the privacy practice within the TPC Team.  She provided strategic advice to clients in connection with the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (“HIPAA”) and other U.S. and global privacy laws.

Ms. Farmer has numerous privacy-related certifications, including: Privacy Law Specialist, Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM), Certified Information Privacy Professional – Europe (CIPP/E), Certified Information Privacy Professional – U.S. (CIPP/U.S.) and Certified Information Privacy Professional – Government (CIPP/G), as certified by the International Association of Privacy Professionals.

Ms. Farmer earned her J.D. from Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law, and a B.A. in Communications, cum laude, from George Mason University.
