Insights: News Kilpatrick Townsend's Megan Chung Named 2021 Leadership Council on Legal Diversity Fellow
SAN DIEGO (February 1) – Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton announced today that Megan Chung, Managing Partner of the firm’s San Diego office, has been selected to be a member of the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity’s (LCLD) 2021 Class of Fellows. Launched in 2011, this landmark program trains and cultivates the next generation of leaders in the legal profession while allowing them to build relationships with each other. Ms. Chung is the tenth fellow from the firm since the program’s inception.
During her Fellowship, Ms. Chung will participate in conferences, work on peer-group projects to foster collaboration and build relationships, and learn from managing partners and general counsel through learning experiences and leadership lunches.
The goal of the program is to produce a generation of attorneys with strong leadership and relationship skills who are committed to fostering diversity within their individual institutions and the profession at large. Each class of Fellows also serves as mentors to those who follow.
“Development of a diverse group of Firm leaders is integral to our growth and success; we are proud to support Megan as our tenth LCLD Fellow,” said Yendelela Holston, Kilpatrick Townsend Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer. “We are excited to have Megan join such a highly accomplished group of group of attorneys and represent the firm’s decade of involvement with the program. Megan has already demonstrated her relational leadership skills as an Office Managing Partner, and we look forward to seeing her implement the additional skills and insight she will gather as an LCLD Fellow.”
In addition to her role as the Managing Partner for the firm’s San Diego office, Ms. Chung heads the Patent Litigation Team in the San Diego office and focuses her practice on complex and technical intellectual property litigation. She has extensive experience representing companies and executives on intellectual property and technology-related matters, focusing on patent, copyright, trade secret and trademark litigation and post-grant proceedings.
Ms. Chung is a graduate of Stanford University, where she also completed a Master’s degree in education. She earned her law degree at the University of California, Davis School of Law. Ms. Chung was listed in 2021 by The Best Lawyers in America® for patent litigation and was recognized as a top patent practitioner in 2020 by IAM Patent 1000 – The World’s Leading Patent Practitioners. She was also named to “Lawyers of Color’s Power List 2020,” an annual list of the nation’s most influential minority attorneys and allies. Ms. Chung also received the “Leader in Law” from San Diego Business Journal in 2019 with the highest score among attorneys in the intellectual property category.
