Brodie D. Erwin Joins Firm’s Labor & Employment Team

RALEIGH (December 7) – Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton announced today the addition of Brodie D. Erwin to the Raleigh office as Counsel on the Labor & Employment Team in the firm’s Litigation Department. He is joining the firm from Ogletree Deakins.
 
Mr. Erwin is a seasoned litigator with valuable trial experience. He has defended employers against claims of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful discharge, and wage and hour violations before state and federal courts in various jurisdictions and administrative agencies including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the North Carolina Department of Labor.

Additionally, Mr. Erwin regularly litigates matters seeking injunctive and equitable relief related to restrictive covenants (including non-compete, non-solicitation, and confidentiality agreements), misappropriation of trade secrets, tortious interference, unfair competition, and other business-related claims. He also brings experience defending employers in federal whistleblower actions brought under the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, the Seaman’s Protection Act, the Surface Transportation Assistance Act, and other statutes before both the U.S. Department of Labor and federal courts in multiple jurisdictions.

In conjunction with his litigation practice, Mr. Erwin provides counsel and preventive advice to employers concerning a wide range of federal and state employment laws and regulations.  His advice and counseling practice includes conducting highly-sensitive and potentially consequential investigations of alleged C-suite, executive, and director misconduct or wrongdoing on behalf of public and private client companies, where he has had great success assisting board members, in-house counsel, and chief compliance officers along the way. Through his counseling work, Brodie has advised employers on steps to assess and ensure a continuously-improving robust culture of compliance with applicable laws. Brodie prides himself on presenting his clients with creative, cost-effective solutions to litigation and work place issues.

Mr. Erwin is a member of the Board of Directors of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Wake County and has been an active fundraiser for the organization for over eight years. He has also distinguished himself with the Wake County Bar Association where he was a member of the Board of Directors. Prior to that, Mr. Erwin served as President of the bar association’s Young Lawyers Division.

Mr. Erwin is recognized as a Best Lawyers One to Watch – Litigation – Employment, listed among Business North Carolina’s Legal Elite, and is a Super Lawyer Rising Star. He is an industry thought-leader and regularly publishes articles and presents speeches on issues important to clients.

Mr. Erwin earned his B.S., cum laude, from Appalachian State University and his law degree at Wake Forest University School of Law.
