WINSTON-SALEM (April 23) -- Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton’sLitSmart® E-Discovery Team is pleased to announce four new additions: Senior E-Discovery Attorney Jon Harris; Senior E-Discovery Attorney Julie Pape; E-Discovery Attorney Jarrad Smith; and E-Discovery Paralegal Amanda Marsh

Jon Harris joined the LitSmart® team as a Senior E-Discovery Attorney in April 2019 in the Firm’s Winston-Salem office. Jon brings more than 10 years of experience in intellectual property and patent litigation to the LitSmart® team. He has led all phases of discovery efforts in large litigations across a variety of practice areas, including patent, complex commercial and construction litigation matters. Jon routinely employs his technical background to help with the collection, review and analysis of technical documents and discovery involving computer software, prototypes and end products. In addition, he is a registered patent attorney and has defended patents challenged through adversarial proceedings before the USPTO.   

Julie Pape joined the LitSmart® team as a Senior E-Discovery Attorney in December 2018 in the Firm’s Winston-Salem office. With more than 15 years of experience in bankruptcy, creditor’s rights, and related litigation, in addition to two years as a contract attorney focusing on commercial litigation and government investigation projects, Julie brings unique experience to the LitSmart® team. She has conducted numerous document reviews, including high level QC, privilege review and preparation of complex privilege logs, in a variety of practice areas including construction, trademark, intellectual property, trade secrets, complex business litigation, government investigations and bankruptcy. In addition to assisting with various document reviews and bankruptcy work, Julie is currently leading a team of LitSmart® attorneys, paralegals and contractors in managing notices of dispute and arbitrations for telecommunications clients. 

Jarrad Smith joined the LitSmart® team as an E-Discovery Attorney in July 2018 in the Firm’s Winston-Salem office. Jarrad has more than eight years of litigation and document review management experience. Prior to joining LitSmart®, Jarrad worked in the insurance industry where he counseled clients on risk management best practices and conducted risk and insurability assessments of clients’ contracts. He also represented clients in lease and general contract agreements, family law matters and estate disputes, in both civil and criminal courts. Within LitSmart®, Jarrad assists with the management of document review teams, develops review protocols and conducts high level QC and privilege review. He has also become a vital part of the team’s ancillary services teams, including bulk subpoena response for financial institutions and managing notices of dispute and arbitrations for telecommunications clients. 

Amanda Marsh joined the LitSmart® team as an E-Discovery Paralegal in March 2019 in the Firm’s Winston-Salem office. Amanda assists with the management of notices of dispute and arbitrations for telecommunications clients. In that role, she maintains working files of each matter and assists a team of contract paralegals who conduct intake and initial analysis of notices of dispute. In her role as an E-Discovery Paralegal, Amanda assists the firm’s attorneys and clients with a variety of e-discovery related tasks, including discovery-related pleadings, deposition preparation, subpoena responses, and preservation compliance. 

The award-winning LitSmart® E-Discovery Team has now grown to 30+ permanent employees stationed in offices across the US. The team is made up of seasoned attorneys, paralegals, project managers and technology specialists. In addition, the team regularly engages 100+ contract attorneys to assist with document reviews in the team’s 6,000 square foot dedicated Document Review Center in Winston-Salem, NC. Under the leadership of Kilpatrick Townsend Partner and LitSmart® Team Leader Craig D. Cannon, LitSmart® provides the full range of e-discovery services (from preservation and collection through production); consultation on the development of enterprise-level strategies for e-discovery and information governance; and guidance on compliance with international privacy laws. In addition, the LitSmart® team serves as Discovery Counsel to some of the world’s largest corporations. In the Discovery Counsel role, LitSmart® is able to capitalize on valuable institutional knowledge to provide guidance on e-discovery strategy, minimizing risk, streamlining data processes and controlling costs.
