Insights: News Releases Mary Craig Calkins Appointed as Managing Director of American Bar Association’s Section of Litigation
LOS ANGELES, CA (August 27) – Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton announced today that Mary Craig Calkins, a partner in the firm’s Los Angeles office, was appointed a Managing Director of the American Bar Association’s (ABA) Section of Litigation, the premier professional association for lawyers involved in litigation and trial practice.
Ms. Calkins joins Section of Litigation Chair Palmer Gene Vance II, a Member of Stoll Keenon Ogden of Lexington, Kentucky, and Managing Director Christina Plum, an attorney with the Wisconsin Court of Appeals, in leading the nearly 50,000 lawyers, judges and other affiliates who are Section of Litigation members. During her leadership year, Ms. Calkins will oversee the activities of more than 40 committees and task forces addressing a variety of substantive, business development and public service issues, and involving approximately 400 Section of Litigation leaders from around the country.
Additionally, Ms. Calkins will oversee the major conferences provided by the ABA Section of Litigation including the Professional Success Summit in November 2018 in Houston, dedicated to the advancement of diverse attorneys, the Section of Litigation and General Practice Solo and General Practice Division CLE Conference in May 2019 in New York City, the Section’s activities at the ABA Annual Meeting, and numerous other regional, local and leadership events. The Section of Litigation provides trial lawyers with educational programming, professional resources, and networking opportunities directly relating to their professional development as lawyers.
Ms. Calkins heads Kilpatrick Townsend’s West Coast Insurance Recovery practice, and has more than 30 years of experience handling and litigating all aspects of insurance recovery for policyholders in complex and high-value matters. She has recovered hundreds of millions of dollars for companies and individuals under directors and officers liability, cyber, management liability and professional errors and omissions policies, and has facilitated settlement of some of the most complicated directors and officers liability issues in the country.
