Siegmar Pohl Joins Firm’s San Francisco Office
SAN FRANCISCO (August 1) – Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton announced today the addition of Dr. Siegmar Pohl to the firm’s San Francisco office as a partner on the nationally recognized Mergers & Acquisitions Team.
Dr. Pohl, with nearly two decades of experience, focuses his practice on cross-border M&A and technology transactions, including deals involving particularly complex or expansive intellectual property (IP) assets. He represents U.S. clients with their domestic corporate transactions as well as investments and acquisitions in Germany. He also counsels European and Asian clients in acquisitions, venture capital, and technology transactions in the U.S. Dr. Pohl regularly holds workshops and training sessions for foreign board members and managers, coaching them on their duties, liabilities, and corporate governance issues.
“Siegmar is an outstanding addition to our growing M&A team in the Bay Area,” said Ben Barkley, Kilpatrick Townsend’s Corporate Department Chair. “His international practice, which includes an emphasis on transactions involving IP assets, seamlessly complements Kilpatrick Townsend’s renowned IP practice. Siegmar is well-positioned to collaborate with our deep roster of corporate and IP attorneys as they assist clients across the firm.”
“Kilpatrick Townsend’s outstanding technology client base and deep IP practice attracted me to the firm,” said Siegmar Pohl. “I look forward to offering firm clients my unique experience and background that helps them navigate the differences among business cultures, legal systems and languages that can make cross-border transactions challenging.”
Dr. Pohl, who is fluent in German and admitted in Germany, earned a J.D. at the University of Trier in Germany, his LL.M. from the University of Iowa College of Law, and his PhD in Law, magna cum laude, from the University of Bonn. He is a sought-after speaker on a broad range of issues important to clients and the legal industry.
Dr. Pohl is a leader in the community. He serves on the Board of Directors of the German American Business Association of California (GABA) and on the Board of Directors of the German School of the East Bay, Inc.
Dr. Pohl, who is joining from Squire Patton Boggs, is the second partner to be added to a Kilpatrick Townsend Bay Area office this month. Mansi Shah recently joined the firm’s Patent Litigation Team in the Silicon Valley office in Menlo Park.
