Partner Joel Cartee, Counsel Sarah Jurkiewicz and Associate Brittany Summers Join Firm

ATLANTA (July 16) – Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton announced today the addition of partner Joel Cartee, counsel Sarah Jurkiewicz and associate Brittany Summers to the firm’s Atlanta office. Mr. Cartee and Ms. Summers will be members of the firm’s Mergers & Acquisitions and Securities Team and Ms. Jurkiewicz will be a member of the firm’s Real Estate team within the Corporate, Finance, & Real Estate Department.

Mr. Cartee represents public and private companies as well as private equity investors and government agencies in a broad range of corporate transactions. He has extensive experience structuring and negotiating domestic and cross border mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, strategic alliances, private equity and venture capital investments, corporate restructurings and equity and debt financing transactions. Mr. Cartee also advises clients with respect to corporate governance, securities, capital raising and investment matters. He has particular experience in the energy, technology and telecommunications industries. Mr. Cartee’s telecommunications practice includes the routine representation of one of the world's largest telecommunications companies in domestic and international mergers and acquisitions and other business transactions.

Mr. Cartee has been appointed Special Assistant Attorney General for the State of Georgia in connection with his representation of the State of Georgia Retirement System and the Office of the State Treasurer.

Mr. Cartee has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America® for Mergers & Acquisitions since 2013. He has handled hundreds of mergers & acquisitions transactions for public and private clients with an aggregate deal value in the billions of dollars.

Mr. Cartee earned a Juris Doctorate from the University of Alabama School of Law, magna cum laude, Order of the Coif, where he served as Senior Editor of the Alabama Law Review. He received his Bachelor of Science in Commerce and Business Administration from the University of Alabama, summa cum laude.

Ms. Jurkiewicz concentrates her practice in real estate and finance transactions. She has experience in all aspects of commercial real estate, including acquisitions, dispositions, development, leasing and operations of office, retail, multifamily and hotel properties. Ms. Jurkiewicz’s practice also includes representation of one of the world's largest telecommunications companies in real estate aspects of mergers and acquisitions and other business transactions. Ms. Jurkiewicz also represents banks and other lenders in asset based and commercial real estate loans, workouts and restructurings, foreclosures and the management and disposition of REO properties. She earned a Juris Doctorate from Georgia State University College of Law and a B.A. in Anthropology from Emory University.

Ms. Summers concentrates her practice in corporate and banking transactions, payments law and regulatory law. She has experience in a wide range of general corporate matters, including corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions and corporate finance. Ms. Summers’ practice includes the representation of the world’s largest telecommunications holding company in various business transactions. She earned a Juris Doctorate from the University of Georgia School of Law, Order of the Coif, where she served as the Executive Articles Editor of the Georgia Law Review. She received her B.B.A. in Business Management from the University of Georgia, magna cum laude, with High Honors.
