DENVER (March 18) -- Kilpatrick Townsend announced today that six attorneys from the firm’s Denver office were selected as 2015 Colorado Super Lawyers. Partner David Sipiora was named in the Intellectual Property Litigation category, while partners Darin Gibby and Thomas Franklin were recognized in the Intellectual Property category. Partners Kris Reed and Matthew Holohan and associate John Cadkin were designated as Rising Stars in Intellectual Property Litigation.

The Super Lawyers distinction honors attorneys who attain a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement as some of the region’s pre-eminent lawyers. Super Lawyers is a rating service of lawyers from more than 70 practice areas. The selection process includes independent research, peer nominations and peer evaluations, all of which result in a comprehensive and diverse listing of the top five percent of attorneys in each state.

David Sipiora focuses his practice on patent litigation, patent licensing and counseling, trademark and copyright, and trade secrets. He advises clients on intellectual property matters in the context of transactional, employment, licensing and pre-litigation law. Mr. Sipiora helps clients protect their businesses through strategic intellectual property portfolio management and development. He regularly prosecutes trademarks and copyrights for clients. Mr. Sipiora has been recognized by Super Lawyers annually since 2008.

Darin Gibby focuses his practice on intellectual property counseling, transactions and licensing matters, and he is experienced handling the intellectual property aspects of mergers and acquisitions. He counsels start-ups and small businesses on the intellectual property challenges they face. In addition, he manages several large patent portfolios for Fortune 500 companies. He was instrumental in launching the Denver office in 1995, and since that time has spearheaded its growth and emergence as the largest patent firm in Denver. Mr. Gibby was recognized by Super Lawyers in 2006, 2012 - 2014.

Thomas Franklin focuses his practice on patent prosecution, licensing and intellectual capital management with more than fifteen years of experience with intellectual property. He is experienced in intellectual property audits, due diligence and strategic planning processes. Through an IP Asset Management plan, he tailors strategy to business goals, competitive pressures and funding constraints to leverage intangible assets with intellectual property. He uses IP protection to maintain the dominance of large companies or assist smaller enterprises who are vying to dominate. Mr. Franklin was also recognized by Super Lawyers in 2014.

Matthew Holohan has extensive experience representing technology companies through all stages of litigation, including pre-litigation analysis, trials and appeals. Mr. Holohan has appeared at trial in U.S. district courts and the U.S. International Trade Commission, and has argued before the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. His technical expertise includes semiconductor processing, digital signal processing, digital video, wireless communications, and cellular technology. Mr. Holohan was also selected as a Rising Star in 2014.

Kris Reed focuses his practice on intellectual property litigation and counseling. Mr. Reed works with clients in such diverse fields as electronics, semiconductor manufacturing and development, software, telecommunications, entertainment and financial transaction processing. Mr. Reed has been selected as a Rising Star since 2013.

John Cadkin focuses his practice on patent, trademark, and trade secret litigation. Mr. Cadkin has experience litigating patent infringement matters in a variety of technical disciplines including software, client/server telecommunications, business methods, building materials, and semiconductor processing. Mr. Cadkin also counsels clients in Internet-related matters such as domain name disputes and keyword advertising. Mr. Cadkin was also selected as a Rising Star in 2014.
