Insights: News Releases Kilpatrick Townsend’s Marc Lieberstein Named 2015 Alumni of the Year By Cardozo Law School
NEW YORK (January 20) -- Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton announced today that Partner Marc Lieberstein has been named 2015 Alumni of the Year by Cardozo Law School. Mr. Lieberstein was honored on January 13, at the 8th Annual Cardozo Law Alumni Association Awards Dinner.
“I am honored to have been recognized,” said Mr. Lieberstein. “The Firm’s support of me and Cardozo has been fantastic, and I know I appreciate it, and Cardozo does to. I am very proud to have five Cardozo alums working at our New York office. I could not have asked for a better group of people and clients to work with.”
Mr. Lieberstein has been an extraordinary Cardozo Alumni leader. As Chair of the Alumni Association Executive Committee from 2004 – 2009, he played a pivotal role in the transformation of the Alumni Association and Executive Committee. Mr. Lieberstein introduced the idea for the Cardozo Alumni of Year Award Dinner, and after stepping down as Chair, he served as Dinner Chair for two highly successful dinners raising significant sums of money for the Cardozo Annual Fund. He also developed the first Cardozo Alumni Practice Groups, and Regional Alumni Network Groups. Mr. Lieberstein currently chairs the Alumni Association Pro Bono committee, and is past Chair of its Career Development Committee. He is an active participant in the Cardozo Mentorship and Alumni-Student programs, where he has spent considerable time advising and speaking to Cardozo students about their careers and finding employment in the intellectual property field.
Mr. Lieberstein focuses his practice on intellectual property licensing and franchising in the commercial and industrial design area, e.g., fashion/apparel and accessories, and consumer products and services, including the drafting, negotiation and enforcement of license and franchise agreements, as well as implementation of branding and commercialization objectives for clients via licensing and franchising. In conjunction with the services above, he counsels clients on creating effective strategies for procuring, protecting and enforcing their global intellectual property assets, including patent, copyright and trademark prosecution, opposition and cancellation proceedings in the United States Patent and Trademark Office, and appeals in the United States Copyright Office. Marc also provides intellectual property litigation services involving patents, trademarks and copyrights, including related e-commerce, domain name, trade secret and unfair competition. Mr. Lieberstein has also effectively utilized alternative dispute resolution in the form of arbitration and meditation to enforce the intellectual property rights of brand owners.
