Represented a major water authority on harbor clean-up, which involved over 100 separate design and construction contracts, and during the peak of construction was one of the largest public works projects in the United States. The treatment plant and associated facilities provide 61 communities and 2.5 million people with state-of-the-art wastewater treatment with a capacity of over 900 million gallons per day. Construction included new primary and secondary treatment plants, a new headworks, a sludge-to-fertilizer plant, a dedicated power plant, a 5-mile inter-island tunnel and a 9.5 mile effluent outfall tunnel. As a fully integrated member of our client's management team, we have worked directly with their legal and technical staff on a day-to-day basis to avoid as many problems as possible and resolve quickly and efficiently those problems that could not be avoided. As a result of our representation, we have ten years of continuous “in-the-trenches” experience with virtually every issue that can arise during the construction of a massive tunnel/wastewater project.
