Scott Oslick focuses his practice on trademark law. Mr. Oslick specializes in all areas of trademark prosecution, including trademark clearance, preparing and prosecuting domestic and international trademark applications, and handling appeals before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. Mr. Oslick has significant experience in trademark enforcement and infringement matters, including prosecuting and defending clients in oppositions and cancellation proceedings, as well as general trademark counseling, branding evaluation and strategy consulting, and intellectual property licensing. Mr. Oslick also has experience in copyright counseling and enforcement, intellectual property litigation, and domain name disputes. He has handled trademark and copyright matters for clients in a wide variety of industries including entertainment, consumer electronics, media and publishing, restaurant services, and cloud computing, in addition to membership associations and not-for-profit entities.

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Oslick was a trademark counsel in the Washington, DC office of a national law firm where he counseled clients on domestic and international aspects of trademark law, particularly the adoption, clearance, registration, maintenance, enforcement, and protection of trademarks. Previously, Mr. Oslick was an associate in the Minneapolis, Minnesota office of a national law firm where he advised clients on trademarks, intellectual property licensing agreements, and copyrights.

Mr. Oslick also worked as a trademark examining attorney at the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) in Arlington, Virginia for more than seven years. During that time, he examined over 9,000 trademark applications and represented the USPTO in numerous ex parte appeals and oral arguments before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. His experience at the USPTO taught him to understand exactly what examiners are looking for in an application, and to avoid weaknesses that might result in a refusal. He constantly utilizes this knowledge and perspective to the benefit of his clients.
