Each year, the Triangle Business Journal (TBJ) honors the Triangle's top commercial real estate professionals and selects winning companies for the market's top deals and developments nominated for the Space Awards. During this year’s program, the TBJ, 2016 Space Awards committee, and general business community collectively recognized Gary Joyner and Ken Atkins by posthumously awarding them for their leadership and years of service to both the economic development and commercial real estate communities in the Research Triangle.

Sougata Mukherjee, Editor for the TBJ, provided several remarks about Gary and Ken. “Gary never shied away from a challenge and never feared work. He once told me he was at seven different events in one day — in five different communities across the Triangle. Having a packed schedule was hardly unusual for Gary.”

Sougata further stated that “If you have been in this town as a businessman for more than 10 years, you have come across Ken. He was cordial, insistent and straightforward — and always had that warm smile.”

Attending from Kilpatrick Townsend were Ford Robertson, David Fricke, John Livingston, and Michael Myers. Joining our table as guests were several clients including Jeff Benson – Dilweg Companies, Gregg Sandreuter – Hamilton Merritt, Matthew Cooke – Davis Moore, Jeff Miller – Davis Moore, and Maggie Clougherty – Davis Moore.
